The middle of the century

In 1939 World War II began. All industry was reoriented to manufacture for the needs of the front. It was reflected in the fashion of the 40s. In a military regime of strict economy women could allow neither magnificent skirts nor trimmings or good cosmetics. Only American women being far from war wore evening dresses, but then they were also touched by the restrictions of wartime. Beauties being as gaudy as peacocks would not look decently on the background of spilling blood. Women of those years turned from magnificent divines from the screen to strictly dressed women waiting their men from the front.
The heroine of the 40s was an austere but a very elegant lady. Her wardrobe included uniform dresses and suits. The most widespread female suit was a fitted jacket and a sheath up to knees skirt. Economy and only economy was the motto of the wartime: shortened skirts, anti-gas shoulder bags, platform shoes – there was nothing to be done, leather and a fabric were necessary for the army. Trimmings were forgotten, women wore scarves and kerchiefs instead, hats were very small and modest. And only gloves, reminded about the magnificent the 30s.
Nylon stockings appeared in wartime. Nylon was cheaper and more serviceable than silk. But some people couldn't allow it. Women painted their legs brown and behind drew stripes imitating the seams of stockings. The footwear fitted the main requirement wartime: practicality. It was lace-ups with cork platform soles.
But it was in Europe. In Russia a second-hand sweater from America was a luxurious thing, skirts were shortened following the pattern on pictures from casually got magazines. But in general our women did not think about fashion, they thought about other things ...
The war ended. And women remembered their thin waists, fair hair, bright cosmetics again. And they were ready to go back to the sweet and refined 30s ...
In the seventieth industry of a fashion has believed in aesthetics of hippie. To tell the truth, ragged in a lap flares, magnificent diversity of a shirt and an ornament from toiletry circuit's can be presumed for elegant people only. Usual secular party has picked up all this in tone, has ironed and has brushed. Trousers flare were, but from silk or jersey. Motley jacket was, but circuit's monophonic. Long hairs was, but carefully combed and leveled.
Some strike of culture of hippie began to be perceived as something romantic. On a proscenium the blonde has left flexible and, at the same time, fragile, high (173 sm. not lower in any way) and with the big eyes. Modesty (in which found special charm and sexuality), refinement and naturalness of steel became an ideal.
The young girl preferred a blouse of type jacket for the daily order, smooth or with a vegetative ornament, or a polo-neck with a narrow collar. It emphasized a make-up the radiant eyes. A polo-neck became the present hit, to not have it in a wardrobe was simply indecent in 70th years. Polo-necks were worn by all and everywhere, by men or by women, when go on a business meeting or appointment - this sweater was your trump.
The length of a skirt was up to the middle of calves; the best model was flares. It was not important, trousers or a skirt. But it should not be too wide. The most extreme variant of trousers looked tight-fitting atop and the sun - flares below. And on fragile legs footwear on a platform or on a wide steady heel.
On shoulders the tightened up ringlets went down hardly, on a forehead there was a constant slanting bang. A Fine addition was a small beret.
The evening order of the blonde with the big eyes decorated with details of a romantic style: flared skirts with a flower ornament, flounces(shuttlecocks), frills, gas scarf's. Ultra - wide maxi skirts.
As you can see, the 70th years fashon was rather pretentious. Do you remember, how funny coloured flares looked on Krachkovskaya in "Ivan Vasiljevich". Yes, thin persons could dress these clothes only. But not 70th years have brought fragile girls into fashion; this tradition began still in 60 ...
